Apsara Authority and World Health Organization promote Smoke Free Campaign in Run Ta Ek Eco-village

There are about 150 people, including villagers from Run Ta Ek Eco-village and local authority attended Smoke Free Campaign, which organized by Apsara Authority, World Health Organization and Ministry of Health.
H.E Mr. Mey Marady, Advisor of Apsara and Chairman of Run Ta Ek Eco-Village Development Project said this is the first official campaign, which is promoted to the villagers about the danger of smoking to themselves, family and community as well as to prevent the outsiders, who visit this village, are not allowed to smoke too. He added that so far, besides providing environmental disciplinary to the workers and new employees, our working group also never forget to educate them about the danger of smoking to their health and many No Smoking stickers are given to remind them as well. We cannot force them to quit smoking immediately, but when they learn to love of their health and family, they would quit smoking on their own.
Also, Mr. Yel Daravuth, Officer of WHO raised about bad effect of smoking that one cigarette can reduce seven minutes of your life because it contains over 7,000 chemical substances that can be harmful to health, such as lung cancer, heart, nerve and so on.
Furthermore, Mr. Hok Kheiv, Director of the Legal Department of Ministry of Health said that the good way to quit smoking is self-commitment and try to stay away from it. In addition, he also mentioned the number of laws that related to the places, where smoking would be fine too.
